Changes

It's quite hard to know where to start writing again, after taking a break. I don't really know what or how to say a lot of the things that have happened, have changed.

I guess there have been a lot of shifts. For me, I have unburdened myself a lot - things around the home, letting go of obligations, we even let go of our dogs and found a new (happy) home for them. That was hard. We thought seriously about packing up and moving to New Zealand. We might still do it one day but for now we're well grounded here, I think.

I am lighter now, in so many ways. My days are more joyful, more enjoyable, less stressful than they have been in a very, very long time. Probably since when I was 10 years old. So for all the sadness that we endured, I feel that it has helped me find a happier, more peaceful place. And for that I am grateful.

I've finally made a few changes to my little blog space too. It's been on my mind for so long, and one of those jobs I kept putting off because I knew it would be time consuming. And it was, and it wasn't. It's good to have a fresh space.

It's good to be back, too. I've missed this place.

    1. New Zealand is an amazing place. I spent a year there previously and would happily climb onto a plane with a one way ticket again. One day perhaps.

  6. So good to hear you are changing and sorting things out on many levels.I can imagine it wasn't easy to let the dogs go, when we sold the farm, the hardest thing was seeing the horses go, (we took the dog).
I hope you have had a chance to go to the beach for a while, it is worth the effort to be close to the ocean and not only does stress seem to fall away when you have a swim, but it is so good to watch the little ones play and enjoy the sand and water .
    Look after yourself.

    1. It was really hard to let the dogs go, but having done so and as much as we miss them, it has lightened our load considerably, amongst other things.
We have not got to the beach yet unfortunately. We desperately wanted to go then found ourselves pretty much stuck under the weight of our obligations here. Hence letting go of a lot of things.
      Thank you.

  8. It takes time Jacqui.
Good to see you back. Love your new look - and those muffins look amazing!
We think we will end up in NZ too sometime in the future. Much higher on the climate change awareness factor!

    1. Thanks Wendy.
The muffins look better than they tasted (a bit sour, sadly!).
Yes, NZ is much higher on the climate change awareness factor, and has lots of other things going for it too.

    2. I know I know! I could jump on a plane anytime soon too! I wintered there working at Mt Cook over 2 seasons then travelled both islands. Love it on so many levels.

    1. Thank you Jan.
The muffins were sadly not as good as they looked (plums a bit sour) but if I can make a nicer-tasting version one day I'll post the recipe :)
