"A portrait of my son, once a week, every week, in 2014".
Favourite thing this week - the dog food. After repeatedly removing him from the situation, which brought tantrums and tears and he wanted it so badly, I decided the best thing may just be for him to have a good look at it, so that it [hopefully] loses it's appeal. He spread it everywhere, he put it back in the bowl, he took it out again, he tasted it, I encouraged him to spit it out, a dog came along and tried to eat it off the floor, he spread it all away, then tried to feed it to the dog. Followed by a good hand wash. After a couple of sessions of this, I think some of the 'no you can't have that' appeal is fading. Thankfully.

  1. These situations are hard, aren't they?

    Still, a beautiful photo :)

    1. They are hard, but it's one of those things that makes me stop and take notice too. And when I actually stop and look, it's really sweet :)

  2. My daughter is obsessed with the dogs food to the point where she screams at him if he tries to eat it when she is playing/eating it. You have no idea how happy this photo made me feel:) I am not alone lol!

    1. Haha well I guess I've got it easier than I thought, at least he doesn't scream at the dogs :) only at us if we try to remove him from the situation.
      I'm also not alone!

  3. You are doing the same thing I did when my kids were obsessed with the dog food; adopt a 'no taboo' policy. They do get sick of it once they have explored the genre. I also used to put the dog bowls up high when I wasn't free to supervise as our dog bowls were (and still are) inside to prevent possums from eating all the biscuits (it can kill them).

    1. Yeah, I figure that once he's had a good look at it, it will lose it's interest, funny how there is so much interest in the things they aren't meant to have. Our dog food is inside too, I've tried putting it up out of reach, and even closing the door on the room, but then I forget, and the animals end up having no access to food or water. So supervised playing it is!

  4. My twin girls used to do this with the cat's food when they were William's age, no harm done and they soon lost interest.

  5. So sweet.
    Great photo.
My son is older but still do the same with cat food. I think that he know that I don't like this and do it again :-)
